The Housing Futures Initiative (HFI)

The HFI identifies housing as a primary form of architecture and one of its main responsibilities, if not today’s most crucial task. It targets the current crisis by prototyping advanced, affordable, and sustainable housing designs through spatial, material, and construction innovation. Its interdisciplinary team aims at a radical rethinking and remaking of collective urban living and the politics and economies that surround them. For reference projects, see The Housing Futures Initiative. If you would like to collaborate, please e-mail us by using the contact form on this website.

The Housing Futures Initiative was initiated and is lead by Alexander Eisenschmidt in close collabortion with the co-investigators Kelly Bair (architect), Allison Bethel (lawyer), and April Jackson (planner), who all teach at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC).
