exhibit _ INHABIT/OUTHABIT AT THE CHICAGO ARCHITECTURE BIENNIAL

Inhabit/Outhabit at the Chicago Architecture Biennial, Shift: Architecture in Times of Radical Change, co-curated with Magdalena Tagliabue, Camilo Restrepo Ochoa, Igo Kommers Wender, and CAB Artistic Director Florencia Rodriguez, September 19, 2025 – February 28, 2026.

This exhibition gathers twenty-nine collective housing projects from across the world, mostly realized within the past decade, each reimagining how we live together and proposing alternatives to conventional models. These projects productively question the very idea of housing today—some by rethinking managerial and ownership systems, others by challenging typological norms, expanding the meaning of family, emphasizing collective spaces, fostering cooperativism, committing to sustainability, or experimenting with new materials. At a time when the global housing emergency disproportionately affects the most vulnerable, this research has looked both backward and forward to assemble an atlas of projects that actively resist stereotypes and the entrenched systems of inequality surrounding housing. The projects featured here function as dispatches: instructive examples for others and contributions to a collective effort to radically rethink housing with urgency. Together, they signal a shift away from capital-driven paradigms toward a collectivism that intersects productively with the world.
